  According to U Wynn Htain Oo (M72), there are several Soe Myint in the Class. They have to be differentiated by their nick names (e.g. Phone Gyi, Kyang Gyi).
• Soe Myint (GBNF) — Eldest son of U Thein Maung (Htin Lin); Worked at Working People’s Daily as Assistant Editor; Married Aida Than Saw (daughter of his boss); Became Chief Editor of Guardian Daily and Magazine; Per his request, I wrote several articles on Computers and Computer Applications

  Known as KSM (Ko Soe Myint, to differentiate for Sunlun Soe Myint); Worked as Systems Programmer.
  Dr. Maung Thein requested KSM and me to give a short session at the Geology department at MASU. The sayas were not happy. “Why is Saya Thein asking two UCC guys to spoil our vacation?”

• Helped RIT win the Inter-Institute Badminton tournament.
  Saya U Thein Lwin (EE, GBNF) was President of RIT Badminton Association.
  Ko Myint Sein (M69) and Bishnu Shahi (EE69er) also played for RIT.
• He worked for the government before running his own business in Taunggyi.

Sai Aik Yee (EE69er)

• Majored in Electrical Communications.
• Had hi-fi equipment (that was shared by his hostel mates)
• Has a medical problem.

Sai Thein Maung (64 Intake)

• Goalkeeper for the RIT Soccer team for all six years
• Won Gold medals for Track and Field at RIT and Inter-Institute tournaments
• Volunteer for the Combined 1st BE Intake of 64 and 65.

Sai Yee Laik (A68, GBNF)

• Saya U Myo Myint Sein mentioned him as unique : First and Last in the Class of A68.
• Joined the Faculty after graduation.
• Moved to Singapore.
• U Tin Htoon (A60) was architect for Burmese Buddhist Temple (BBT) in Singapore.
  BBT was built by the company where Sai Yee Laik worked.

Sai Aung Thu Yein (EC74, UCC, GBNF)

• His father U Tun Myint was a signer of the Pinlon Agreement.
• Studied MS in Computer Science at UCC.
• Worked in Singapore before moving to Australia.

• Sai is a prefix for the name of selected Shan males.
• Sao is used by the family members of Sawbwa.
  Saya Sao Kan Gyi (Tony Mangrai) is a member of the Keng Tung Sawbwa’s family

Sein Hlaing

• He matriculated in 1946.
• He graduated with Electrical Engineering in 1952.
• He joined the EE Department as Assistant Lecturer
• He received a States Scholarship to study MS at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
• Upon his return to Burma, Saya was promoted to Lecturer.
• He was one of the three Professors (out of the eight Departments) when we joined 2nd BE RIT in 1964.
• He passed away a couple of years after retirement.
