  • U Kyaw Sein (M65)

    Saya U Kyaw Sein (M65) taught Drawing at RIT.

    He later taught AutoCAD.

    He was Moderator of two Facebook Groups related to RIT and Engineering.

    He archived Pon Tu’s of sayas and sayamas (by Bagyee Myat Myo Myint). Saya U Tin Lin (ChE72) annotated the Pon Tu’s.

    He matriculated from St. John’s Dio and posted about the school magazine.

    He passed away in Singapore.

    * He was known as U Kyaw Sein (1).

    Dr. Kyaw Sein (M65) was earlier known as U Kyaw Sein (2).

    * He was a regular attendee at Singapore Oldies’ gatherings.

  • Dr. San Tint (EE61)

    Dr. San Tint taught until retirement as Professor and Head of Electronics Engineering Department (also known as EC).

    He played on the Saya Soccer team.

    He served as External Examiner at UCC.

    He attended SPZP-2000 with the sponsorship of former students and also visited Seattle and New York.

    He received donations for the Book Drive and Jivitadana Hospital.

    He had Stroke which affected the mobility of his right side. He practiced writing with his left hand.

    Sadly he passed away. His nephew U Hlaing Myint (UCC) was by his side during the final days.

    His former students helped schools & projects in his memory via Pyinnya Dana Foundation.

  • Dr. Win Thein (C58)

    Saya Dr. Win Thein graduated with Civil Engineering in 1958.

    He retired as Professor and Head of Civil Engineering.

    He had medical checkup and treatment in Bangkok and Yangon.

    Former colleagues and students donated to his medical expenses fund. They also provided health status reports.

    He lost mobility in the final months and passed away peacefully.

    He matriculated from St. Albert’s High School.

    He is soft spoken.

    He is a regular at 69er Gatherings.

    The pandemic claimed him and his spouse.

    * U Aung Khin and his spouse Daw Tin Tin Hla (A70) retired from Botswana and moved to Seattle, Washington, USA to be near their daughters and grandchildren.

    * Uzin Bobby Myo Tun is an itinerant teacher.

  • U Tin Aye / Abdul Rauf (EP69)

    He is among those who passed away in recent years (mostly during the pandemic).

    He is a Heartian (alumnus of Sacred Heart High School) along with U Tin Aung Win (Oscar, M69), U Than Htut (Harry, Mon Yu, M69) and U Win Boh (Robert, EC69).

    He is the younger brother of Saya S. Kyaw Aye (GBNF).

    Members of 69er HCF tried to provide support to the families of the fallen 69ers.

  • U Tin Maung Hla (A69er)

    He bade farewell to his friends at the 69er Breakfast Gathering. He had medical problems, but he seemed peaceful.

    He had taken Abhidhamma courses. He provided support for courses and publications on Abhidhamma.

    He passed away not long after the Gathering. He told his daughter that he wanted to host a 69er Breakfast Gathering. She contacted U Aung Min (M69) and team to let her host the following Gathering (per her father’s request).

    He was known as Ko Hla and Ah Ba.

  • U Ye Win (EP67)

    U Ye Win (EP67, GBNF) served as Secretary of Hlyat Sit Sar Saung Committee.

    Dr. Maung Maung Lwin (UK) told me that he is the younger brother of U Ye Win and that he had passed away.

    Dr. MML is a member of Triple Gems Publication with U Tin Htoon (A60, USA), Daw Tin Tin Myint (Emma, ChE70, Singapore), U Htay Aung (Victor, EC80, Australia) and U Harry Than Htut (Canada). He also ran a web site for Dhamma publications.

      Nata was among the young 69ers.
      He created Kyant Ba Hone.
      He had a resemblance to Saya U Tun Shein (Maths).
    • He is a Patron of RIT Cartoon Box.
      He served as President of RIT Cartoonists Association.
    • He received his Masters from Australia.
    • He published educational books.
    • He had a medical problem and subsequently passed away.
    • Saya U Aung (C70) wrote “Memories of Ko Kyant”.
  • Dr. Julie Han (T61)

    1961 saw the first batch of female Engineering graduates :

    Dr. Julie Han received Doctorate in Material Science and worked for several companies in USA. She was Vice President and Fundraiser for TBSA (Theravada Buddhist Association of America) along Saya U Htin Paw (EE58, President of TBSA, GBNF). Both attended SPZP-2000. When she passed away, Saya donated $2000 to TBSA in her memory.

    U Thwin was Principal of Technical High School on Boundary Road. His daughters Amy and Dolly (Ni Ni Thwin, ChE64) are engineers. Sadly, both are GBNF.

    * Sayama Julie was also known as Julie Han Wood. She passed away in San Diego, California.

    * Sayama Amy’s spouse was a Lecturer at GTI.

    * Daw Yin Yin Kyi married U Aung Gyi (Simon, ChE62). They moved to Australia.

    * Daw Mi Mi Lay attended MES Thet Kyee Pu Zaw Pwe.

    * Pauline was the first female ChE graduate. She moved to Thailand.

    His spouse Dolly (PPBRS) is the sister of U Khin Maung Oo (Robert, EC66, USA).

    U Tun Oo Khine (EP69, GBNF) served as an Editor for Hlyat Sit Sar Saung.

    U Kyaw Zan Hein (Shwee, C69, GBNF) was admitted to 2nd BE as Roll No. (14). He jokingly said that the intended one did not join RIT and the Admission Office assigned the Roll No to him.

    U Kyaw Than (Met69, GBNF) was an organizer for the early 69er gatherings.

    Some (e.g Sein Win, Soe Win, Khin Maung Win, Khin Maung Gyi) share names, so we have to differentiate them with discipline and/or nickname.

    U Sein Win (C69, GBNF) studied Palmistry and married a Palmist. He changed him name to Win Kyaw.
