Nga Kyan Pyan Kyaung Centennial
The first Resident Sayadaw was from Dawei (Tavoy). He successfully recited five Dhamma Texts (Kyan). A book was published to celebrate the Centennial of the founding of the “Nga Kyan Pyan (Dawei) Sasana Yeiktha“.
I was asked to contribute an article. I stressed the importance of time.
I received a copy of the book. I was sad to see some typos and errors that should have been caught by the proof reader and the type setter. -

- Managed a team of System Programmers at UCC and CSO.
- Taught Computer Science at UCC, ABAC and in Australia.
- Co-authored Lecture Guides for use at UCC with Saya U Soe Paing and U Hla Min.
- Wrote articles and poems.
- His elder sister in Myanmar published them as two books.
- I edited part of the first book “Dhamma and Bawa” and also wrote the Preface.

- Sayagyi U Ba Toke is a Phwa Bet Taw of (a) Rangoon University (established by the 1920 Rangoon University Act (b) First Strike of Rangoon University students (later celebrated as Ah Myo Thar Aung Pwe Nay). All three events occurred in December 1920.
- Saya Dr. Khin Maung Swe (Tekkatho Maung Thin Char, GBNF) interviewed Sayagyi.
- The interview covered six audio tapes. They were transcribed by Sayama Daw Myint Myint Khaing (daughter of Arzani Mahn Ba Khaing).
- With the support of the Rangoon University Mathematics Association, they compiled and published the book as an 80+ Birthday present for Sayagyi.
- During my visits to Yangon, I visited and paid respect to Sayagyi.
- Sayagyi gave Ko Ohn Khine (M70) and me autographed copies of the book.

Ma Swe Swe Kyaw Zin and her spouse are entrepreneurs. They have their business in Yangon.
Ma Aye Aye Kyaw Zin attended the 1st B.Sc.(CS) course at ICST. Her spouse is an alumni of Mandalay TU. They live and work in Australia.
The family offered Dhamma Dana for the book which covers Paritta Pali and Dharana Paritta.

- Had a successful first career as an IC Designer.
- Per request from his younger sister, he joined her to found QTC, which became a multi-million enterprise.
- The book “Six Steps to a Dream” was published on the 25th Anniversary of the founding of QTC.
- The siblings are philanthropists.

Book by Ludu Daw Ah Mar Says and I used to exchange books (dhamma and general). Saya also told me to keep the ones that I want.
He bought books. He received books when his friend Saya U Soe Kaw (Mining) passed away. He also received books when a Myanmar monastery undergoing renovation gave away the old stuff.
Saya appreciated reading books by Ludu Daw Ah Mar, Theikpan Maung Wa, Tha Ka Doe, and Kyemon U Thaung.
Many journalists and writers worked at Ludu Newspaper founded by U Hla and Daw Amar (Ah Mar). Ludu Daw Amar wrote about notable people from Mandalay.
Theikpan Maung Wa wrote about pets.

First Sermon
- “Taya Oo” means First Sermon.
- It is used to describe “Dhammacakkapavuthana Sutta” (Turning the wheel of Dhamma), which was given by the Buddha to his first five disciples.

- Sayadaw U Silanandabhivamsa wrote “Taya Oo” as a young bhikkhu.
- The book was reprinted for dhamma dana offering at Sayadaw’s 75th birthday.

- There are many books on “Dhammacakkapavatta Sutta.”
- They include translations of the first sermon in Burmese/Myanmar and English, and expositions.
- Mahasi Sayadaw gave a series of dhamma talks on the Sutta and its relation to vipassana meditation.
- Saya U Aung Zaw (UCC) once e-mailed to me an English translation of the Sutta by Sayagyi U Pe Maung Tin.
- Several sayadaws such as Dhamma Beri Sayadaw have conducted dhamma classes on “Taya Oo”.
