    • He served as Secretary of the RIT Civil Engineering Association.
    • He was in charge of Technical Publications at MES (Myanmar Engineering Society). He mailed me a few MES publications.
    • During my visits to Yangon in 2012, he hosted a dinner gathering and presented me a Xeroxed copy of “RIT Cartoons”.
    • He also gave me a ride to the SPZP-2012 Preparatory Meetings.
    • I learned that he had medical problems, but he would give his best to make SPZP-2012 memorable.
      He wore several hats.
      He headed the committees for Logistics, Security and the Publication of the commemorative issue of Swel Daw Yeik Magazine and the re-printing of 23 Vintage RIT Annual Magazines.
    • He founded and moderated the Facebook pages for RIT Alumni.

    HMEE

    “History of University Engineering Education in Burma/Myanmar” (HMEE-2012) was published in time for SPZP-2012.

    • The project’s initiators included Saya U Soe Paing, Sayagyi U Ba Than and several sayas and alumni (See Acknowledgement in the Book).
    • Saya U Aung Hla Tun and team (including Yours Truly) compiled the book.
    • The draft for the first two sections were prepared by Saya U Soe Paing and team.
    • Ko Ohn Khine (M70) translated Section 1 and summarized Section 2.
    • Ko Ohn Khine’s translations have been revised by Saya U Soe Paing.
    • Saya U Aung Hla Tun suggests that the Book is due for revision/update every five years (or so).
    • Several meetings have been held for HMEE-2018 (follow up project to HMEE-2012 mentioned above.

    YTU Library Modernization Project

    • Donations — large and small — are coming in.
    • U Khin Maung Tun (T78), Daw Myint Myint (C69), Saya Dr. Myo Khin (C70) and Daw Mya Nwe (Winsome, C73), Saya U Tin Htut (M60) … donated K100 Lakhs each (or more) for the Project.
    • Thanks to Ma Nan Khin Nwe (83 Intake) and team. The team had incrementally published the list of donors.
    • Phase One : The construction for adding a storey is completed.

    • The YTU Library could/should have a section to help remember our beloved alma mater, our sayas and alumni activities.
    • Sayagyi Dr. Aung Gyi endorsed Ko Benny Tan’s proposal to archive the mementos.

    Saya U Maung Maung has requested U Win Khaing (M 75, Chair, SPZP-2012; President, MES) to have a meeting at 3:30 p on December 29, 2012.

    U Thaung Sein (Steeve, EE 70, Multiple SPZP Sponsor at the highest level) will give a 5-minute presentation/announcement at SPZP-2012. He provided the “seed money” (US$3000+) for SPZP-2000. He has pledged US$5000 for SPZP-2012. His other charitable donations include “Relief for Cyclone Nargis victims” (via CABA), “Helen and Steeve Kay Health Care Fund for RIT Sayas and Sayamas”, Golden (and above) sponsorship for all the RIT Grand Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwes, …

    U Tan Yu Beng (Benny, M70, Multiple SPZP Sponsor) will also attend SPZP-2012. He co-chaired the Working Committee with U Maurice Chee (M 75) for SPZP-2000. He also designed the SPZP Banner, and the commemorative T-shirt, mug, … for SPZP-2000. He is currently enjoying his third career as a proud grandfather taking care of the grand kids.

    Most sayas and sayamas from overseas and out of town will converge to Yangon around December 26 – 28. Some have accepted the two-night stay (for December 29 and 30) provided by the SPZP-2012 organizers/committees/sponsors.

    Sayagyi U Aung Khin (M) and Saya U Tin Htut (M 60) will stay at Winner Inn. Sayagyi U Ba Than (M) will welcome them personally at the air port before taking them to Winner Inn.

    • The First RIT Grand Reunion and Saya Pu Zaw Pwe was hosted by RIT Alumni International in October 2000.
    • It was a two-day Formal Event preceded by a Welcome Dinner for SPZP-2000 attendees at a SF Bay Area Seafood Restaurant.

    • The Class of RIT 1969 celebrated the Golden Jubilee of Graduation in December 2019.
    • A Reunion and Acariya Pu Zaw Pwe was held at the Assembly Hall in the Gyogone Campus in the morning.
    • Some 69ers from overseas (USA, Singapore …) attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
    • Glad to see Daw Tin Tin (Ann, EC69) come back from USA to the Campus for the first time since Graduation.
      She donated to the event and also to the 69er HCF (Health Care Fund).
    • About 320 students who had passed the last ever I.Sc.(A) examination were admitted to the first ever 2nd BE at RIT (Rangoon Institute of Technology).
    • Most of them graduated in 1969.
      A few took sabbatical and graduated later.
      Some left RIT before graduation.
    • The Dinner and Entertainment Program was hosted by U Aung Min (M69, Chair of 69er HCF) and team at the premises of his old PWD office.
    • Sad to note that 128 members (about 40%) are GBNF.

      After retirement, he moved to USA.
    • U Myint Lwin (Henry Chee, C63, GBNF) matriculated from SPHS (St. Paul’s High School) in 1955.
      He took sabbatical to get married and graduated in 1963.
      He worked for Municipal Corporation before moving to USA.
