  • Old Paulians’ Association

In our younger days, the Old Paulians’ Association (OPA) was located inside the school compound.

We were invited to the OPA Dinner in 1963 as the top Matriculates from SPHS. U Chan Tun was a key note speaker.

After nationalization, OPA moved out and became “diluted” with non-Paulians (mostly interested in billiards and drinks).

In the early 80’s, the true Paulians took over OPA and held the Saya Pu Zaw Pwe at the Assembly Hall inside the school (now No. 6 Botathaung SHS). The Patrons include Ko Khin Maung Tun (SPHS58) and the ECs include Ko Myo Nyunt (Harry Kyaw, SPHS63). Saya Nge (our class teacher in Std. VIID) had to be carried into the Hall by his former students.

Several years back, I received a DVD from two much younger students in the Bay Area about their SPZ. There were only three sayas from our times — Saya U Ba Myaing, Saya U San Thein and Saya Beatson — in that DVD. Brother Anthony was presumably still alive, while his elder brother Brother (turned Father) Joseph had passed away.

The invitations are per courtesy of U Khin Maung Zaw (SPHS70, EC76), who attended SPHS and 6 Botahtaung.

The banner was e-mailed by Richard Gerald Boudville (Australia), son of Sayama Violet Boudville (our class teacher in Std VD).

U Tun Shwe worked for UN assignments abroad.

U Thet Lwin used to work in Thailand and Singapore. He hosted a breakfast gathering for the UCC Old Timers.

    KMZ wrote :

I happened to be flanked by two long time friends since their days at SPHS – St. Paul’s High School. Sadly, both of them are now GBNF, may their beautiful souls rest in peace, looking down on us from somewhere above.

  • U Khin Mg Win / Sargalay (EP69)

    He was a Top Student.

He would finish Drawing classes / exams early and still receive Grade 5.

He became tall and lanky and renamed himself as La Da & Galon.

He was a Training Partner for Sai Kham Pan (Burma Selected in Badminton) and represented his Township.

He posted requests to pray for him for a successful operation and recovery.

    Sadly, he passed away.
