BAPS

Update : December 7, 2022

BAPS stands for Burmese American Professional Society.

It is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. BAPS was established with the merger of BEA and BASTS.

Saya U Htin Paw (EE58, GBNF), Saya U San Tun (Sain Fone Wong, M59) and Saya Dr. Tin Aung (K C Chiu, ChE63) are Past Presidents of BEA. Daw Khin Htar Yee (Lily, T72) served as Secretary for a long time before she moved to Houston, Texas.

BASTS was founded by younger Burmese studying Science and Technology in the USA. Some are children of RIT sayas and alumni. For example, Daniel is the son of Saya Mao Toon Siong (M62). Eugene Shu and Jonathan Shu are sons of U Aung Khin (James Shu, M70, GBNF).

Saya Dr. Nyo Win (K H Chen, M65), Benny Tan (M70) and Maurice Chee (M75) are Past Presidents of BAPS. They are also founding members of RIT Alumni International.

I am a Life Member of BAPS.

I served as a Contributing Editor for BAPS Newsletter.

I have been serving as Chief Editor of RIT Alumni International Newsletter for almost two decades.
