Poem
by Saya U Moe Aung (Tekkatho Moe War)
In memory of Saya U Tin Shwe (EP66) and Saya U Hla Shwe (T69)

Translation
by Hla Min
SHWE duo
Blossom in unison
Disappear together
Free from complaint
Even with thin breath
Showed mark [of courage and wisdom]
Never ever wavered …
Pressed by burden
At the awaited turn [of journey’s end]
Body — inheritance [from previous lives]
Succumbs [to failing health]
Yet, “Wei-nyin” is fresh, alive and hovering.

I don’t believe I had any classes from Saya U Tin Shwe, may be some Tutorials and/or Lab. I used to hang out with Saya U Hla Shwe at Sports Officer U Maung Maung’s office as it was somewhere between Civil and Textile departments. That office was usually crowded with Sayas including U Win Maung (Civil), U Maung Maung Than (Tx) among others. We played/bet darts, talked all the crazy stuff, very few students were there, myself and the other student, who was a long distance runner as well as National Badminton player.
I met them both at the first Reunion in Yangon the last time.
May both their souls rest in peace.
And thanks Saya U Moe Aung for the beautiful poem honoring them.
