U Tin Maung Nyunt (M60) studied MS in Agricultural Engineering in the US. He boarded the same ocean liner as Saya Allen Htay (C58, GBNF), Saya U Soe Paing (EE, UCC) and Saya U Ko Ko Lay (C, PWD, UCC, GBNF) on their return trip back to Burma. They bonded during the long journey (e.g. playing Bridge). Three of them reunited as Sayas at RIT.
Sayagyi U Ba Than (M) requested him to teach Agricultural Engineering (then an Option of Mechanical Engineering). Some students had difficulty following the lectures given by Soviet sayas with the aid of translators.
Saya later moved to Thailand and US.
Saya stayed fit by doing hiking, biking and meditation.
Saya had some medical problems in the past few months.
Daw Mu Mu Kin (spouse of Saya Allen Htay, GBNF), U Myint Swe (EP74, VP of NorCalRITAA), Daw San San Swe (EC74), U Yu Ket (Edward Saw, EC85, Treasurer of NorCalRITAA) and I visited Saya.
U Myint Swe and Daw San San provided transportation, some delicacies and special “Cho Pawt” tea. They also prepared Mohinga and Ah Kyaw for Saya.
On behalf of the donors of Saya U Tin Maung Nyunt Health Care Fun, Daw Mu Mu Kin presented a check to Saya.
Also present were U Win Nyunt (Saya’s brother), U Thein Naing (Patrick) and Dr. Kyaw Tint — dhamma friends and golf partners.
