Optimists, Pessimists and Realists
Optimists tend to see the bright side, e.g a half-full glass.
Pessimists tend to see the dark side, e.g a half-empty glass.
Realists tend to observe and reason, e.g ask if a glass was being filled or emptied.
The UNSG said “Coups have no place in the Modern World”.
But the U.N. Security Council did not condemn the Coup because of two large powers who have economic and geopolitical interests in Myanmar.
UK and USA added some Generals to their Black List and announced economic sanctions.
But the Military, Police and its toadies ransacked homed, institutions and places of worship mostly at night. They arrested people, took away cars and motorcycles and then asked Ransom. They have amassed lots of illegal money and assets — enough to last generations (even their children and grandchildren could show off their wealth).
Most Dictators and their toadies have a sad ending.
But it took a long time to defeat Hitler and the Nazis, and patience to catch some War Criminals (e.g Eichmann).
Effective Action by World Leaders
The Power Mongers have killed innocent people. They used Snipers and blatantly refused to admit their heinous Crimes Against Humanity. They broadcast and print Fake News. They play the Blame Game.
But, despite the ASEAN policy of Non-interference, Thailand allowed Indonesian Foreign Minister to meet a toady of the Power Mongers.
Dead bodies are mounting.
But the World is still watching (without timely and effective action).
