Sayagyi U Ba Than

Sayagyi studied at Imperial College, University of London.

He retired as Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering.

He enjoys talking to former colleagues and students, and showing them his collection of photo albums. He was a proud supporter of HMEE project. He donated rare photos to the project and to MES.

Sayagyi donated back all the Garawa money that he received from the SPZPs and mini-PZPs. Sayagyi offers soon kway on or around his birthday (October 2nd) and invites his former colleagues and students.

Winner Inn is run by U Ye Than (his son), Daw Lwin Mar Oo (his daughter-in-law) and his two grand children.

Per request from his grandson, he wrote his Memoirs.

Dr. Ba Than

He was Rector of Institute of Medicine, and the founder of “Zwe Ah Nyeint”.
He ran a hospital during the Japanese occupation with the assistance of Dr. Maung Maung (father of U Maung Maung Kyi (SPHS63)) and Dr. Myint Swe (author of the book “Hmat Mie Thay Dei Japan Khit Say Yone H=Gyi Wei”).

He was also an outstanding soccer player.

U Ba Than

Saung U Ba Than is an icon in Burmese music. There were eight obituaries (one by each spouse).

U Ba Than

Dhammika U Ba Than is a retired army officer and a writer. He wrote about the “Taw Hlan Yay”. He translated “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”.

U Ba Than

U Ba Than, father of U Chit Po Po (M69, GBNF), is a founding member of the Kone The Gyi Myar Ah Thin (aka Burmese Chamber of Comemrce).
