Sayagyi Dr. Aung Gyi

Sayagyi studied in the USA and Canada. He served as Professor Civil Engineering and retired as Rector of RIT.

Sayagyi worked on UN assignment before migrating to Canada.

Sayagyi contributed several articles to RIT Alumni International Newsletter and Updates, and also for “History of University Engineering Education in Burma/Myanmar”.

I met Sayagyi in California, New Jersey, Canada and Myanmar.

A few years back, Ivan Lee (M69) hosted Sayagyi and Ma Ma Emma, my spouse and I at his house in New Jersey.

Some days later, Sayagyi and Ma Ma Emma hosted us at their house in Canada.

In Yangon, I was an “Ei Hmyaung” at the gatherings : once for the birthday of Ma Ma Emma at the Feel restaurant, and once for Sayagyi at U Nyan Tun U’s residence,

Brigadier General Aung Gyi

He was a core member of the Revolutionary Council.
He was sent to Ma Chan Baw for disagreeing with his boss.
He has ups and downs in the military and politics.

Commander Aung Gyi

He is the brother of Sydney Gyi and Donald Gyi (Mya Han, SPHS).

He was a prominent figure in sailing (yachting).

U Aung Gyi

He set a weightlifting record for the Flyweight division in the Olympics.

U Aung Gyi

U Aung Gyi (Maths, MASU) was a Saya for the Inlay Khaung Daing Lu Ye Chun Camp in 1965.

U Aung Gyi

U Aung Gyi (Simon Khoo, ChE62) is the cousin brother of U Than Se (Richard Khoo, ChE62).

His spouse is Daw Yin Kyi (T61).

We met in Sydney (Australia) and in Northern California (USA).
