Date

There are different formats. A sampling is given below.

(1) Day, Month, Year (e.g. in Myanmar)

(a) DD-MM-YYYY (e.g. 22-08-2018)

(b) A different delimiter/separator may be used.
DD/MM/YYYY (e.g. 22/08/2018)

(c) DD-MMM-YYYY (e.g. 22-AUG-2018)

(d) In the early days, only two digits were used for the Year.
It was the cause of the infamous Y2K Problem.
It can be ambiguous for some dates.
22-08-18 could mean 22-08-1918 or 22-08-2018

(2) Month, Day, Year (e.g. in the USA)

(a) MM-DD-YYYY (e.g. 08-22-2018)

(b) MM/DD/YYYY (e.g. 08/22/12018)

(c) MMM-DD-YYYY (e.g. AUG-22-2018)

(d) In the early days, only two digits were used for the Year.
It was the cause of the infamous Y2K Problem.

(3) Year, Month, Day

(a) YYYY-MM-DD (e.g. 2018-08-22)

(b) YYYY/MM/DD (e.g. 2018/08/22)

(c) YYYYMMDD (e.g. 20180822)
The dates can be sorted easily.

(4) Alternatives

(a) Number of days from a specified base date
It gives an interval between the two dates.

(b) Number of days in a year
e.g. 001 stands for 1st January
032 stands for 1st February
