  • U Ba Aye is the father of Sayama Emily Ba Aye (Daw Khin Swe Aye, Physics), U Khin Maung Aye (Tennis), Daw Nu Nu Aye (UCC) and U Tin Maung Aye (Tennis).

  • Ba Dway is the younger brother of one’s father.

  • Bagan U Ba Gyan was a Minister, who escaped death on July 19, 1947. He is the elder brother of U Ba Shan.
  • U Ba Gyan (cartoonist). Cartoons are exhibited around Tazaungdaing in his honor.

  • Ba Gyi Aung is a fictional character from Saya Minthuwun’s short story. Saya’s literary friends translated Saya’s poem and the short story and published them along with the Burmese original.
  • Dr Ba Han (Old Paulian) compiled a Dictionary. He is the elder brother of Dr Ba Maw. Judson, U Tun Nyein, and Tet Toe are compilers of English-Burmese Dictionary. Judson also compiled the Burmese-English Dictionary.
  • Dr. Ba Han (SPHS66) is a Psychiatrist who practiced in New York State before relocating to Texas. He is the younger brother of U Win Htein (SPHS56), U Myo Myint (SPHS60) and U Myint Thein (SPHS62).
  • U Ba Hein was Principal of No. (6) Botathaung State High School (name of SPHS after Nationalization).
  • U Ba Hein is the father of Dr. Daisy Ba Hein and Dr. Edwin Ba Hein (Yi Thwe, SPHS65).
  • U Ba Hla Oung lost his son Ko Aung Khin (who was listed officially as he 17th victim) on July 7, 1962.

  • U Ba Khin (SPHS) stood first in Burma in the pre-war days. He headed four Direcctorates in post-war Burma. He is a Vipassana Teacher from the Dhamma lineage of Ledi Sayadaw and Saya Thet. He is the teacher of Saya S. N. Goena.
  • U Ba Kun won Mr. Burma (Maung Bamar). He became an actor.

  • Myoma Sayagyi U Ba Lwin was Chief Boy Scout of Burma. He served as Ambassador to Ceylon (Sri Lanka). His children include USIS/USIA U Kyaw Nyein, U Kyaw Thein Lwin (Burma Navy, Five Star Line), Saya Dr. Yan Naing Lwin (WIU) and U Than Lwin (US State Department).
  • Saya Dr. Ba Lwin (EE59, RIT EE Department)
  • U Ba Maung is the father of Saya Joe Ba Maung (RIT English). Saya Joe was Burma Tennis Champion in Singles and also in Doubles (with U Than Lwin). Saya transferred to Burma Railways, He headed the sports activities (soccer, tennis, …) of Burma Railways.
  • U Ba Maung is the father of Uzin Phillip Ba Maung (GBNF).
  • Dr. Ba Maw (“Adipidi”- figure head – Japanese occupation) was a leader of the “Sin Ye Tha Party”. He is the younger brother of Dr. Ba Han (Compiler of Dictionary). He is the father of Sayama Daw Tinsa Maw-Naing, who taught English in our I.Sc.(A) class.

  • Saya U Ba Myint (EE63) taught at the EE Department at RIT. He retired as Pro-Rector of YTU.

  • Kyar Ba Nyein is a Boxing Champion and a promoter of Burmese Martial Arts. He is also an expert in Checkers (“Kyar”). He is the father of U Win Nyein.
  • U Ba Nyein (Ma Sa La Advisor, Father of Daw Khin Toe Nyein (Toe Toe, UCC, GBNF))
  • Bagyi Ba Pe led a political party named “Pe – Pu – Shein”.
  • U Ba Oo is the father of Eddie Ba Oo (Tin Aung Moe) and Reggie Ba Oo (Tekkatho Aye Maung). He is the brother of U Ba Thein, U Ba Tu, U Ba Hpyu and U Aunt Gyi.

  • Dr. Ba Pu (orthopedics) is the brother in law of Dr. Pe Nyun and Dr. Pe Thein.

  • U Ba Shan served as Secretary of the Mathematics Curriculum Committee. He is the younger brother of “Bagan” U Ba Gyan (Minister) who escaped with a bullet wound on the fateful July 19, 1947. He is the father of U Boe Ba Shan (UCC) and U Toe Ba Shan.
  • Bohmu Ba Shin authored a history book. He served as Secretary of the Thamaing (History) Commission. He is the father of Dr. Nyan Htein (MOC).
  • U Ba Swe (aka Kyargyi Ba Swe, Dawei) served as Defense Minister and briefly as Prime Minister (when U Nu took sabbatical). He led the Swe-Nyein faction of AFPFL (aka Ti Mye or Stable AFPFL) with U Kyaw Nyein as his deputy.
  • Yangon Ba Swe ( author, socialist) was a sharp shooter. He is credited for shooting at Galon U Saw.
  • Saya U Ba Than retired as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at RIT.
  • Saya U Ba Than was Rector of IM(1). He founded the Zwe Ah Nyeint. He is the father of Kitty Ba Than (Daw Khin May Than), Amy Ba Than (Daw Khin May Aye) and Dr. Georgie Ba Than.
  • U Ba Than is the father of U Chit Po Po (M69). He was an elder of the Burma Commerce.
  • U Ba Than is the father of Cyril Ba Than (Than Hla, 69er). He is the brother of Saya U Tin U (C), Dr. Myo Tint, U Tin Htoon (A60), Saya U Myo Min (UCC) and U Thaung Lwin (EC60).
  • U Ba Than Aye (Myo Myint Lay, C, GBNF) volunteered at UCC before he joined the army.
  • Saya U Ba Than Haq retired as Pro-Rector of RASU. He is the son-in-law of Hajeema Daw Pu.

  • Ba Thein (Atlanta) is the pen name of Dr. Myint Thein (M73).

  • U Ba Thin is the father of Edmund Ba Thin and Tin Latt.
  • U Ba Thwin was a Government Secretary.
  • Maung Ba Tin is a Burmanized form of “Mountbatten”.
  • ICS U Ba Tint was a Deputy of ICS U Tin Tut and became his brother-in-law. His spouse is Daw Khin Saw Mu (mother of Sayama Daw Khin Saw Tint and U Nay Oke Tint).
  • Sayagyi U Ba Toke served as Rector of Mandalay University, Professor of Mathematics at Rangoon University and RIT, Commandant for University Lu Ye Chun Camp, Manager and Leader of Burma Olympic Team. Dr. Khin Maung Swe (Maung Thin Char) interviewed Sayagyi and wrote a book.

  • U Ba Tu is the father of Pearl Ba Tu (Pale). He is the brother of U Ba Thein, U Ba Oo, U Ba Hpyu and U Aunt Gyi.
  • U Ba Tun is a founding member of RUBC (Rangoon University Boat Club). He served as the first Captain of RUBC.
  • Dr. Ba U (President, Union of Burma) succeeded Sao Shwe Thike. He was succeeded by Mahn Win Maung. He wrote “My Burma”.
  • U Ba U and U Tin Shwe are members of the “Tiger” Scrabbleteam.
  • U Ba Wai was Burma Table Tennis Champion.
  • Arzani U Ba Win is the brother of U Aung Than and Bogyoke Aung San. He is the father of Dr. Sein Win.

  • Ba Yin Gale was a top jockey. The jockeys had to retire when the then No. 1 banned horse racing for the public. Grapevine says that No. 1 never attended the Arzani Day Celebrations in July (to enjoy the horse races in UK).

Ba (in middle or end of name)

  • Dr Reggie Ba Pe (physician) and his son Reggie Ba Pe Jr. are medical doctors.
  • Shwe Ba was an actor with a large following. Grapevine says that the outdoor movie screen was hit by a brick when an audience member could not bear Shwe Ba being hit mercilessly. The next day, there was an announcement. “Please be patient for a while. Ko Shwe Ba will soon overcome and punish his adversaries.” He is also known for saying “Ba, Shwe Ba” (Imitating “Bond, James Bond”).
    There’s a Myanmar restaurant called “Shwe Ba Hta Min Saing” (honoring the action actor who lived nearby).
