Editor’s note:

  • Ko Tha Din was Burma volleyball selected.
  • John Tint played soccer for Burma Youth.
  • Ko Htin Myaing (A66) won the single and double titles in tennis. He was dethroned by Ko Soe Tha (EC67) and Ko Tun Kyi (M67, GBNF).
  • Ko Htay Aung (M69) won RIT and Inter-Institute swimming events for 100 m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and Inya cross-lake (2000m). He also represented RIT and Burma in water polo.
  • Ko Khin Maung Zaw (EC76) and Ko Thura Thant Zin (M76) played hockey for the All-Universities team and also rowed for RIT. In hockey, KMZ was the “coach” of Ko TTZ (goal-keeper). In rowing, Ko TTZ (RUBC Gold) was the “coach” of KMZ.
  • Ko Win Khaing (M75), “Dat Pon” Sann Aung (M74), Phyo (M76), and Ko Thura Thant Zin (M76) rowed for RUBC Fours. They had a reunion in SPZP 2007.
  • Ko Htaik San (Henry Kao, M80) and Ko Phyu Lin represented RUBC in coxless pairs, coxed fours, … [at the FEARA regatta]. Gavin (Than Tun Aung, A81) is RUBC Golden Cox.
  • Sai Kham Pan (EP69) was Burma selected in badminton. He ranked No. 2 in singles (behind Sagaing Kyi Nyunt) and ranked No. 1 in doubles (with Ko Kyi Nyunt). For RIT, Ko Myint Sein (M69) was his doubles partner and “Sargalay” Ko Khin Maung Win (EP69) was his “training” partner.

    1. There was a famous national level middle distance runner in our days, early to mid-70s, I believe he also played national-level badminton. Unfortunately, I could not recall his name, we used to hang out with many Sayas at the Ko Maung Maung’s RIT sports dept. office.

    2. Mehta brothers, Moosa (E73?/Seattle) and Ebrahim (Met 76/NY), Ko Soe Aung (M75/Los Angeles) and some RIT’ians played RIT/Universities’ selection and also at national level field hockey, There are numerous hockey players from RIT in the all-Universities selection.
