To err is human

Conventional wisdom says, “To err is human, to forgive divine.”

Unconventional wisdom says, “To err is human, to really goof use a computer“.

Several flyers, printed using MS Word, show “New” (instead of “Nwe“) if you do not turn off the auto-correction feature. Most word processors support a private Dictionary.

An early translation program was given “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” as input. It produced the output “The vodkha is okay, but the meat is rotten”.

A later machine translation program as given “Out of sight, out of mind” as input. It produced the output “BLIND INSANITY”.

With the advances in language processing and with the help of feedback from users, most machine translation programs produce acceptable translations. Several tourists use them for “basic” navigation in a foreign land.
