EE Sayas in 1967

  • The group photo was taken in 1967. We were in 4th BE.
  • There were 18 EE sayas at that time.
  • U Khine Oo could not make it to the photo session.
  • U Myo Kyi, U Ba Lwin and U Tin Maung Lwin were on deputation doing their advanced studies abroad.
  • At the time of the posting, 8 EE sayas — U Kyaw Tun, U Sein Hlaing, U Tin Swe. U Sein Win, Dr. San Tint, U Chin Way, U Soe Min and U Thein Lwin — are GBNF.
  • Before we graduated in 1969, U Tin Shwe (EP66) and Daw Mya Mya Than (EP68) became EE sayas.
  • From our class, U Than Lwin (EC69) joined the EE Department.

U Tin Shwe (EP66) taught at RIT and ABAC. He reminisced his student days in the article for “Swel Daw Yeik Sar Saung”. He became a monk after retirement and served as a Dhamma Librarian. Sadly, he passed away. Saya U Moe Aung wrote “To the Shwe Duo” about the demise of U Tin Shwe and U Hla Shwe (T69).

Several sayas joined the EE Department in 1963. They include

  • U Moe Aung
  • U Ba Myint
  • U Sein Maung
  • U Win Tin
  • U Khine Oo
  • U Chin Way
  • U Nyi Nyi

U Moe Aung moved to Singapore. He chaired SPZP-2002 and SPZP-2010. He served as Chief Editor and Publisher of the Commemorative Issue of Swel Daw Yeik Sar Saung for SPZP-2002, SPZP-2007 and SPZP-2010. After retirement, Saya moved back to Yangon. He is Patron of Swel Daw Yeik Foundation. He served as Chief Editor for the Swel Daw Yeik Magazine for the Shwe YaDu in 2014 and SPZP-2016.

He still gives lectures at the Electrical Inspectorate. He writes columns (articles and poems).

U Ba Myint retired as Pro-Rector of YTU. He is seen during his medical check up at Grand Hantha Hospital. The services, which started with the “Steeve and Helen Kay Health Care Fund for RIT sayas and sayamas”, are now managed by a volunteer team of Swel Daw Yeik Foundation. The Kays handed over the balance to SDYF.

There are mini-SPZPs conducted by the various EP/EC classes.
